Description and Operation
Notes
Garage door opener transmitter, purpose
It is possible to activate up to 3 different garage doors with the garage door opener.
Garage door opener transmitter, function
The garage door opener consists primarily of a remote control capable of learning.
Programming
Function prerequisites:
Switch on circuit 15R or circuit 15.
If one of the transmitter buttons is pressed for longer than 20 seconds the system changes to the learning mode. This is indicated by the LED flashing. The desired transmitter frequency can now be learned by holding the manual transmitter for the garage door against the garage door opener and actuating the former. The end of the learning operation is indicated by the LED flashing quickly. It is possible to program three different transmitter frequencies. Each transmitter button is assigned to one transmitter frequency.
Time delay switch-off
In order to save the vehicle battery the garage door opener switches off automatically in the learning mode if programming has not been accomplished after approx. 100 seconds .
Application
If one of the three transmitter buttons is actuated the learned signal for this memory location is transmitted and activates the associated garage door.
NOTE: The garage door opener signal has a range of at least 85 % of the range of the manual transmitter for the garage door, however, always 15 m .
Erasing
Erasing the memory is accomplished by actuating the two exterior transmitter buttons for longer than 20 seconds . Successful erasing of all memory locations is indicated by the LED flashing quickly for approx. 10 seconds .
Compatibility garage door - Garage door opener
A list of compatible garage doors is included in the passenger car sales reference manual.
If the garage door used is not listed the compatibility can be checked with the compatibility tester.
If the garage door is not compatible with the garage door opener, a universal receiver (Fix Kit Receiver) for modulating the radio signal can be installed in the garage.

On the E, C, ad most ML's the user guide says one thing, but usually doesn't work that way. You're going to need someone to sit in the vehicle and reset to the first group of flashing, then you either need to be close enough or have someone push the reset on the garage door opener itself to detect the vehicle. I'll try to watch this posting for the next couple of days to see if it worked for you, if not I'll research a little more.
