He committed suicide by shooting himself. This occurred in his underground bunker in Berlin.
The day before, he had married his long-time mistress, Eva Braun. She also committed suicide, by taking cyanide.
A footnote of sorts is the death of the six children of Magda and Joseph Goebbels (Goebbels was the minister of propaganda)--they were also in the bunker, and when the Russian army was closing in, their mother put them to bed as normal--after giving them a poison-laced drink.

Adolf Hitler (help·info) (April 20, 1889 – April 30, 1945) was Chancellor of Germany from 1933, and Führer (Leader) of Germany from 1934 until his death. He was leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP), better known as the Nazi Party.
Hitler gained power in a Germany facing crisis after World War I, using charismatic oratory and propaganda, appealing to economic need of the lower and middle classes, nationalism and anti-Semitism to establish a totalitarian or fascist dictatorship. With a restructured economy and rearmed military, Hitler pursued an aggressive foreign policy with the intention of expanding German Lebensraum ("living space") which triggered World War II in Europe by ordering the invasion of Poland. At the height of its power, Nazi Germany occupied most of Europe, but it and the Axis Powers were eventually defeated by the Allies. By then, Hitler's racial policies had culminated in the genocide of 11 million people, including about six million Jews, in what is now known as the Holocaust.
In the final days of the war, Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker in Berlin with his newlywed wife, Eva Braun.

Hitler had a pathological hatred of the Jews whom he blamed for Germany's defeat in the First World War and began a systematic
Program of removing Jewish influences from Germany which eventually culminated in the Final Solution. The question of his Death and remains have already been answered, the former Soviet Union indeed went on pursue the rest of Hitler's Hierarchy
at the Nuremberg Trials and were the driving force who kept Rudolph Hess incarcerated virtually throughout his life time when the Allied Nations wanted to release him. Indeed Israel's Secret Service (Mossad) were no less ruthless in their Pursuit of Adolf Eichmann whom they kidnapped from South America and then executed after a public trial.

Hitler believed that killing the jews was the "final solution" to Germany's problems. After Germany surrendered in World War I, they were forced to agree to harsh terms from the international community, which resulted in, among other things, unbelievable inflation and difficulty getting food and supplies due to restrictions put on their ports.
As Hitler rose to power, he blamed the Jews for the troubled time Germany had endured, and the Germans completely entranced by their charasmatic leader, began the steps that would lead to the extermination of 11 million people including 6 million jews.
In the final days of WWII, Hitler retreated to an underground bunker with his mistress, several of his personal assistants, and several high-ranking military officials. It was obvious that the Soviets would defeat Germany; and eventually Hitler and his mistress took cianide pills and died.
Their bodies were found and moved from place to place; officials did not want to bury him lest his followers erect any kind of memorial to him. Eventually he was creamated and the ashes dumped into the Erbe.

they killed jews because they needed a scapegoat to blame their own problems on so they picked a group that was already disliked by many. do not forget that they killed all the gypsies and the catholics and the bums and the crazies and on and on. they killed many more russians than they did jews but it is the senseless and hateful killing of jews that has remained the major focus of attention of the world and history.
jews are very smart so they dd not want them around to compete anymore. they wanted only stupid slaves to wait on them. they killed all the smart polish people too, keeping the strong dumb ones for slaves to breed later. if you had a degree or even wore glasses they killed you. they did not just kill jews. 60 million people lost their lives in WWII. do not forget that part.
other people have tried to erradicate the jews over the centuries and the millennia. they all have failed. now the leatest threat is the arab /muslims. they will fail too.( but only so long as the jews keep their deal with the creator god who promised to protect them if they did not disobey him, whenever they disobey they suffer so most are very obedient to their god. It may be that they have again displeased god so maybe they will again be diminished but some will survive to reproduce. they try to stick together and only marry jews to assure this)

Hitler poisoned his wife before shooting himself. He gave orders that after his death his body should be thoroughly burnt to save the soviets from having a trophy. His body was reduced to ashes.
Only those following Hitler's beliefs believe that his body is buried somewhere - will probably come back to save Germany in much the same was as King Arthur will come back and save the UK

Hitler took cyanide, then shot himself. He didn't want the advancing Russian troops to take him alive. His body was then set on fire by his SS bodyguards, though Hitler's body was not totally destroyed by the fire & the Russians took the remains.
Hitler isn't buried anywhere. Not wanting his burial site to become a shrine for future Neo-Nazis, the KGB destroyed Hitler's body & tossed the ashes into the Elbe River.
And of course you have conspiracy theorists who think Hitler survived WW II, and that the body found & photographed was that of a body-double.
