I believe that Apple Stores(As well as Other retail Outlets) Stock a Scratch removal Kit!
Don't you just hate it when that happens!?

Only real remedy I can come up with is buy a new one. Or of course you can just buy a protective case for it if you don't have one already.
All iPods scratch real easily, strange how Apple still hasn't responded to all the complaints yet.

If you are talking about the screen, I would say thats similar to a watch face or a gameboy screen. If thats the case, dip your finger in cigarette ashes and rub the area lightly and the scratches will go away. The ashes are a mild abrasive and it may take a while, but it does work.
