Um symptoms.... pants may not fit right in the next few weeks. Or you may start to get morning sickness. Or you may be fine and not get more then a growing belly.
As far as getting the sex at 16 weeks.... I had a level 2 ultrasound done due to health concerns in the family. Our family has a high risk with kidney defects. If your family has any type of congenital defect that runs on either side you may be able to have this done. If not I would wait untill 22 to 24 weeks to make sure you get the best chance to finding the sex. 20 weeks can still be early.

Here is where pregnancy gets exciting. You belly should begin to grow. In about a month you will start feeling the flutter of your baby inside you. Talk to your Dr. about determining the sex of the baby before 20 weeks. Most of the time it is very difficult to do that. Plus the Dr. will want to look at the baby around 20 weeks to make sure that the baby is developing properly. One thing I learned from being pregnant is that you can't plan. Stop worrying so much about the future and enjoy your body and the baby. Pick up a book like "What to expect when you are expecting." It will answer 99% of all questions.

Yes there is! I found out I was having a boy at 15 weeks!! The first doctor that did my ultrasound did't tell me, but the doctor that came in to check his work told me! That early it is hard to say for sure, because they might see something that looks like a penis but it is really the clitoris.(It's kinda too big for them at that stage but the baby will grow into it in the next few weeks) In my case he told me that there was no doubt in his mind it was a boy,but he still had to tell me it could be a girl! I think it depends on if your doctor is willing or not. Just stress to them that you really want to know and you understand that it's not for sure, but you'd like to try anyway. About what's to come next: get a pregnantcy week by week book. You can get them anywhere they sell books. They are so helpful! Also they have weekly sites. Some good ones are...

Hope this helps!

Since you are towards the end of 1st trimester sore breasts may be the only symptom you have, consider yourself lucky! And yes, my doctor told me sometimes its possible to find out the sex as early as 15 weeks, it depends on the baby's position and a skilled sonographer's eye.

You'll get a more accurate reading after 18 weeks on the sex.
And theres no way of knowing when symptoms you'll have next, if any, its all dependant on the amount of hormones your body produces.
Although at some point you ligaments and round tendons will start to stretch on your sides, belly and pelvis, and it will hurt like a mofo and you'll think you're losing the baby.
Just a heads up on that one. :)
