Jesus was a Jew who is the son of God and he was sent to die on the cross for our sins to save people from going to hell. I know this sounds a little far fetched, but it's true. You can find it anywhere in the new testament in the Bil be. The Bible should be the best place to find out about Jesus. Good luck with your essay.

If not for the fall of Adam and Eve, Jesus would not needed to come. His mission was to get back what was lost at the time of Eden.
God designed the world to be a peaceful place His children could grow up learning to love God and each other.
They followed a selfish motive betraying God's trust and love and taught their children the same selfishness. Their 1st son murdered his brother.
It took 4000 (biblical) years of preparation for Jesus to be sent to a Holy land to restore Peace on Earth and good will to all. He needed people to believe in Him (Mk 6:29)
His Mission was not to do miracles (Moses made bigger miracles than Jesus)
His Mission was not just to die (God could have sent him to a tribe of cannibals to kill him quicker)
The unique thing about Jesus was that he taught of a God who loved us like a parent. His parable of the Prodigal Son and His prayer to forgive his torturers was a greater expresion of resentment free love that the world had never seen before.

his mission was to save us all from damnation. Simple as that! He did much more than that, but that was his purpose. Now he did do MANY miracles when he was here on earth. Read the bible though..That is the best thing to do. IF you don't have one and you are going to get one with a concordance. It will help you a lot. If you need any more help about it ask me then.

Jesus life is focued in 4 books of the bible
Mathew, Mark, Luke, And John.
much of it is repeated because it is the account of 4 men,
I'd say read though one of more of them,
it will give you an idea.
if you want a good book that is writen in cronogical order, with all 4 sources,
contact the local Jehovah's witnesses and ask for the book called "the greatest man who ever lived"
they will provide it to you at no cost,
they will bring it to you, or you can stop out to the kingdom hall to get one ( again at no cost)
if you are interested in studying the bible, they will be happy to do that as well, but if you are not, you can still get the book.
( its in the phonebook as either Jehovah's witnesses, or kingdom hall of Jehovah's witnesses.
( its a great book, I love it very much)

the answer to this question will take you to a variety of religions with different ideas and theroies about what was the mission ,the most accurate and comprehensive data that you can get is from the watchtower society in brooklyn new york,,what I do know from them is that god made us perfect in every way,but because of the disobedience of our first ancestors( adam and eve ) we as human lost our birthright to eternal life, the sacrifice that god(jehovah) sent forth in his love for humanity has redeemed the birthright through the sacrifice of a perfect being(jesuschrist) so that we as humans can through prayer can remain in contact with our creator,as long as we accept and believe in his teachings we can inherit his kingdom, the other mission that jesus did on this earth was to vindicate the name of his father against the lie that satan and started in the heavens ,that people serve god in fear and not in love and appreciation for his creation ,the earth,I hope that I was helpful and thank you for the question, delmy d
