I just got this idea while answering somebody else's question and decided to test it out. My idea is that people who eat with others are more likely to be at or close to their ideal weight and those who eat alone are more likely to be under or overweight, so anyone trying to change his/her weight should make a resolution to stop eating alone.

I am at my ideal weight and I probably eat about 80% of my calories while alone (well, actually with my one-year-old).

This is a good point. However, a lot of people who eat in groups (like on Friday nights, etc) can overeat due to social reasons. At the same time, if you are alone, there is no one to say "hey that's a big piece of pie".

I'm not at my ideal weight, and I eat more when I'm alone, out of boredom.
