If you are a citizen of India, you don't require any passport or Visa to visit Nepal. Just carry a valid ID proof to be shown at the international border. For rest of the citizens of other nations, both passport and Visa are required to visit/enter Nepal.

For visitors other than Indian nationals, passport is required to Visit Nepal ? Did you mean to say "Visa", if so: Visa can easily be obtained at the entry point by filling-up the visa form, attaching two passport size photos and paying Visa fees; for a Single Entry Tourist Visa to Nepal for 60 days is US $60 or equivalent foreign currency.
