Any turf grass needs approx one inch of water per week to get established and stay healthy. To determine this put a soup can out next time you water and see how long it takes for 1" of water to collect in the can. It might be 30 minutes, for example. That means with your sprinkilng system your sod needs watered 30 min a week. I would break that up into 2 or 3 sessions rather than all at once.
If nature helps lighten up.

You need to keep the sod moist which may require watering once or twice a day or even every other day. You should do this until the root grown down into the exisiting soil. Then you can extend your watering to a greater interval. You should never let the sod look wilted or limp.
You can pull up a small area of the sod and see the roots extending down from the sod to the exisitng soil.

Good question for your local sod contractor since that answer is dependent upon where you live.

a good bit initially , but once the turf starts to "yellow a little " then back off . i don't know where you live , but most lawn will come back no matter what ; but i guess you're trying to get it established --- good luck .
