If the check comes back bad will I be procecuted for it or just have to pay the bank back

You were scammed. These cashiers checks (and US postal money orders too), most commonly from Nigeria or somewhere else abroad, are ALL FORGERIES. You will lose whatever you wired or sent abroad. You won't be punished -- you are a victim, not the perpetrator.

Contrary to what many people think, even when a cashiers check (or bankers draft, which is the same thing in British English) isn't a forgery, the bank can still stop payment in case of fraud.

If someone gave you a bad check and you cashed it on your account than the bank makes sure your account has enough money in it to pay the check should it come back bad. You have probably been scammed!

You won't be prosecuted unless you were trying to scam the bank. It will just bounce if it was a forgery, and you will lose the money.

I don't understand your question. Cashiers checks are the same as bank guaranteed funds. They cannot bounce.

dont think ya will be prosecuted unless ya dont pay the money back, i think they will just send you a notice requireing repayment
