I'm not making a generalization omg? Sorry if that was rude, but it was not intended to be rude. Wow. I really think my question is legitimate, just because basically people don't like others because of how they look - and since blind people can't see, I was wondering if they could be racist.

Gosh, some people are so RUDE on here.

Of course, we hate all you sighted people who keep trying to make generalizations about us.

First of all, great question!!! Way to go to post a question that requires some brain activity... lol... .but I think it just depends, I think to certain point it would be how they were raised as well. Even though they can't see color they still could have been raised racist. I would think they would have a little bit of a hard time though because they wouldn't be able to see if the person was black unless someone told them.

Sight has nothing to do with racism. It is how you are brought up and other influential factors. If your parents were saying racist things as you were growing up, you may become racist. If you were brought up being taught that all people are created equal, than most likely you will not be racist. Family has all the influential power to make you believe what they do. You want them to love you, so you think and act like tham. It has nothing to do with sight.

So, yes, a blind person can be racist. Just like someone who can see, can not be a racist.

Thank you for asking. Great question.

At first glance, I wanted to NO to this. But if a blind person still heard about differences between races, such as whites against middle eastern decents, and how whites behave as opposed to middle eastern folks, couldn't they form the same opinion an all seeing person could?

Yes

Of course they can. Blindness is a condition, not a mind altering situation. Even when a person doesn't have the gift of sight, perceptions are perceptions no matter what the circumstances.

Yes, because not all blind people were born blind, some didn't lose their sight until much later in life.

Of course, racism is not just what you see, what you feel, it is a level of hatred against those of other races. You don't have to see people to hate them. (my opinion) Do you think that if someone is blind they cannot have ignorance and biases? good question.

This is perhaps the dumbest question I've yet seen here. Here's a question equally as dumb and senseless...Can a person with no sense of smell hear a fart???

Anyone can be racist. You don't need to see someone to know that they are black, Asian, or any other race. Not only that,, but all you need to be racisst is to hold the belief that one race is superior to another (not necessarily yours). You don't have to act on it to be racist.
