Tortoises are vegetarians, so feed it any salad that you would eat.

feed him small amounts fruits and vegetables. just be warned that tortoises live very long (up to 150 years) if you can dedicate your life to keep him that long then by all means keep it but if not release him.

They like to eat safe grasses and weeds, leafy greens, with small amounts of hard vegetables and moist fruits.
Safe grasses, such as:
Alfalfa hay or pellets
Bermuda grass
Fresh clover
Clover hay
Rye grass
Rice grass
Mallow

and also leafy greens such as:

Dandelion greens and flowers
Endive
Grape leaves

I use to have a turtle that I had found, I use to feed it cucumber and potato peelings. and I gave him water in a shallow jar lid

Alfalfa and Timothy hay
Dandelion- the leaves, flower, and stems.
White/Dutch clover- the leaves and flower
Honeysuckle- flowers and berries.
Live or canned crickets and grasshoppers, which you can buy at bait shops, and pet supply stores.

tomatoes...lettuce.....cabbage
he will really enjoy a small live insect....you could injure a fruit fly's wing for him to feast on
if you have him in a box you need to give him fresh, clean water 2 times a day & clean his box daily
