I was a working student through all my degree programs -- the reason was that my siblings and I buried our parents as very young adults, and we HAD to work to pay for our College Costs AND to pay for ALL of our needs -- like food, clothing, shelter, utilities, necessities of life.

As such, we were all VERY SERIOUS About our Educations -- and we ALL worked and Prioritized our remaining time -- so instead of goofing off, partying, etc -- WE were studying while Commuting to our jobs, Studying on our meal breaks, Studying in our Free time ...

AND ... our GPAs were among the HIGHEST in our respective schools and degree programs -- we all graduated with HIGH Honors for our Undergrad Degrees (Bachelor's) AND ...

We all Have Graduate Degrees with HIGH GPAs as well ---

This is due to the SERIOUS Nature of having to rely only on our own efforts to succeed in life -- when you sacrifice to PAY yourself for something you Value (like Further Education) you work very HARD and take all assignments SERIOUSLY and do the work AHEAD of schedule and to the instructions and put much more effort into the final product -- the projects, the exams, whatever.

If you are working too hard, you would get tired and thus not be able to concentrate.
On the other hand it could make a perosn feel 'more worthwhile' and give them better concentration

When you work you don't have as much time to dedicate to your studies -- and therefore, some GPAs suffer.
