Hamsters are nocturnal and sleep during the day. To check the sex of a hamster you hold it by the scruff of the neck and and look between the back legs, it it looks like an upside down v. it is a female a male has more anatomy so it looks more like a v. Feed the fresh food every day or only enough to get them thru the day unless you are on vacation. Hamsters store thier food so it looks like they are eating but may not have eaten it all. Please if you have a male and female get seperate cages unless you are prepared for a litter of babies. They may play in the wheel at night so you might miss that activity. Some don't use the wheel at all. Here is a page that covers alot of information about hamsters.

u can't believe anything a petstore tells u. most of the time they have no training and r just hired off the street like someone at walmart. r they syrian or dwarf? if syrian the HAVE to separated or will eventually fight & kill. if dwarf they can stay together however since u r unsure of their sex not a good idea because u will have babies. LOTS. the bigger the cage u can get the better. connecting 2 cages with tubes is what i've done.
some hamsters dont like the wheel, but the ones that do only play on them at night. prob at 3 am when u r asleep. yes it is normal that they sleep in the day & only get up for food/water. dont force them to wake up as this will stress them. stress can lead to wettail.
boy hamsters are pretty obvious. very large bottoms.
yes feed them daily. about a tablespoon a day. hide it around the cage. they like the hunt.
email me with any questions.

Most likely one of the males has been murdered because Hey, three's a crowd. Or, perhaps the female who was not interested in breeding protected her virtue and was ganged up on and killed. Anyway they told you wrong. If you want a hamster it is better to have one or, two of the same sex. Two females from the same litter are more likely to get along. Males will compete with each other for breeding rights and the loser may die.
Hamsters are nocturnal meaning they sleep all day and make irritating noises all night until you finally decide they would be much happier living in the basement. Also, they spend most of their lives trying to escape because although you may enjoy them they really don't like you. Rodents as pets are really not a good idea.

First off, you probably shouldn't keep them in the same cage if you can not determine the sex of each of them. Secondly even hamsters of the same sex will tend to be more wild towards humans if they're kept together. It's natural.
It is normal for them to sleep during the day. The are nocturnal creatures.
Hamsters tend to store their food in the pouches they have in their mouth, and sometimes transfer it to their own hiding place, such as underneath shavings, or in a tunnel, or bed. I usually feed my hamster once her bowl is almost empty or completly empty, which with her is an everyday thing. They all have diffrent eating habits.
If you're worried about their exercise, buy a run about ball. These are medium sized balls you close your hamster in, and put him on the floor and he runs around. You can find them at petsmart and petco.

hamsters are more of a nocturnal creature because they live in dens and such. You usually can't keep more than one hamster in the cgae at the same time because they fight. You probably ahve a male and female. The two males probably fought and kill one or one escaped.....
feed them everyday so they always have fresh food. Clean water everyday too. Try to socialize you hamsters by holding them. If they don't like the wheels try getting little tubes for them- though, they tend to hide in there.. Try little hinding places and switch it around every couple of weeks so they don't get bored

You have one of each. You can not put two males together, they will fight. Especially if a female is near. Yes it is normal for them to sleep during the day, they are nocturnal. And yes you have to feed them everyday, just don't overfeed. They will play in that wheel at night, they just have to get use to it. Or you can get them a habatrail system-hamster play house.

Please move them to separate cages. One of the males got eaten and in a couple weeks you'll have babies. Hamsters are nocturnal so yes it normal to sleep during the day. Give them food every couple days. They will run in the wheel at night. To keep it from squeaking put vegetable oil on it. Had to oil mine once a month or so.

The boys may have ganged up on the girl or the boys dueled it out to death. Sleeping during the day is completely normal. They are nocturnal animals. Feed them every day or whenever the bowl is empty. They like treats too. Try getting some of those tunnels for them. Mine always seemed to love those things. We used to take them out and let them run round in an enclosed area too. They liked that too. I got a little fence for them so they could run. It was like $10.00
Good luck.

First off I have never heard of one being eaten by others did you check, are you sure it didn't get loose ......or check under litter maybe it died and is under litter in cage .....as for feeding you want to make sure they have food and water everyday.....and they only way I got mine on the wheel was put them one at time in the plastic type that goes on the floor available at pet stores and they get used to going around ....also handle them regularly so they are used to human touch and stay friendly......the pet shop can sex them for you if you want to know......or just wait and see if you get babies! The wire wheel in cage to start take out your hamster and hold the wheel above ground ,set hamster in it ,it will realize it can't get off and evetually go around and around ..good luck!

It's likely the two males had a fight over the female and one survived and the other didn't make it . They are very competitive this way and also they are active at night so this may have been when the mishap occurred .
