Same. Only difference I can think of is that those who call it Ping Pong are older and probably know and holds the bat with the pencil grip. The later players hold the bat like in tennis and probably play a more aggressive game!

they are the same but the only difference is that Ping Pong comes from the sound of the racket when it hits the ball "Ping...Pong" while the original name is Table tennis

Who's to say one name is better than the other? There's no judge or jury. So, it depends on who you asks? Yes, I would say it's called ping pong, but someone asks might say it's table tennis. It don't really matter as we both playing the same game and know what we're referring too.
