Like if there was a red moth and it went to a red wall, would it know that it's hiding? Or would it go to any wall regardless of color?

Do other animals like cheetahs know when they can't be seen easily?

I'm not sure that animals are smart enough to have any concept of whether or not they are camoflaged. They do however have instincts as to how to use their colours because when they do they can hunt and hide more effectively. We have 5 baby calves, 4 are brown and one is black and white but the black and white one has no concept it is different. When it looks at the brown calves it thinks they all look the same. It doesn't know it is different because it doesn't know what itself looks like. The other calves don't notice that it is different either. They like each other all the same and all they care about is milk. It's sad that animals are so innocent towards differences yet humans are brought up from an early age to distinguish between different colours of skin.

I learnt about evolution where white n dark brown moths were released in a forest and sometime later only dark brown moths were found, cos the white moths were unable to camouflage against the dark brown barks of trees in the forest.

In the first place do animals or insects differentiate colour? I know that dogs are colour blind..not sure about the rest. So I have a feeling they most probably dont know,.

Yes, just like when you have feeling someone is behind you. It is the same for everything. And if a red moth goes to a red wall it is probably trying to hide.
