Yes, the body is just a vehicle for the eternal spirit soul to ride in for short duration. When the body is no longer inhabitable, the spirit soul must leave. The destination depends upon the work the person performed in his life. "As you sow so shall you reap".
Life means eternal spirit. There is nothing 'alive' about the body. The body is a bag of chemicals only all of which can be either manufactured in the lab or procured from a cadaver. Yet, if anyone were to take all the constituents of a human body, put them in their proper places, proper ratios, etc, etc, no one in their right mind would believe this body was 'alive'. It would still lay there as the bag of chemicals it is.
For those who think the body is alive by itself without any need to mention the spirit soul: why has no scientist or doctor or anyone ever given life to a dead body? If this soul-less idea is scientific, then they should prove it in the lab. Make a living body from a dead one. It should be easy with all the medical knowledge we have. The reason that no one has done it is because there is more to life than the body. The body is a vehicle only, nothing more. The driver and occupier of the body is the eternal spirit soul, the spiritual energy of the Lord. Because the soul is eternal and the body is temporary, the soul must leave and find a new vehicle when the body is no longer viable. That leaving is what we call death. In reality the body was never alive in the first place.
Even though no one has proven in a lab that the body is viable without a soul by bringing a dead body to life again, people with very little intelligence in the matter say there is no proof of the existence of the soul. By definition, the soul is spiritual in nature. This means the soul cannot be perceived by the senses and is therefore not measureable or perceivable by any instruments of today's sciences. But this in no way disproves the existence of the soul. What it means is that science today is not up to the task.
Proof of the soul's existence is possible by the process of self-realization. As the name implies self-realization means that the person receives self knowledge of his eternal existence. It is revealed by purification of consciousness to him/herself alone. Just as when you eat a meal and become satisfied, you know your own feelings of satisfaction, but no one else knows this. And to prove to someone else how you felt would be very difficult if not impossible. How do you measure your satisfaction? In the same way, self-realization is the science of knowing the self, the soul, through purification of consiousness. If a materialistic fool has no knowledge of self-realization or knowledge of the soul, this is not a proof of anything but their ignorance. The second chapter of the Bhagavad-gita gives more information than I could put here. So check that out at the link below.

As a matter of fact I do believe in that energy. I have experienced it. And ther are similar concepts in several cultures, all describing what is essentially the same phenomena related to that energy and thus must be describing the same energy.
For example, the Hawaiian and Polynesian peoples ahve the idea of Mana (not to be confused with the Christian idea of Manna from heaven). In Hunduism, there is prana. Anomg the ancient Nordic peoples there was a concept called Hamingja. All of these were essentially describing the animating energy or life foces contained in living beings and throughout the world. The fact hat cultures taht could not ahve possibly ahd any contact with the others all developed similar ideas about these energies is an indication there must be somehting to al of these ideas.

Yes, I believe that there is an energy in all living things. With a little practice it is possible to use this for pain relief and 'mind over matter' type control - I find, for some reason, that it is easier to concentrate on its positive use by controlled breathing and keeping my teeth and lips closed but not clenched! (I'm really not as weird as I may sound!)
Just an interesting thought that I read about some years ago - over a period of 10 years every cell in a body is replaced but the person or 'spirit' remains constant. This has been the cause of a lot of philosophical thought!!!

Yes there is a lot of proof of corse in eastern Medince and eastern thought. Western socity is just starting to come around to the actually idea to some machines that can test such things. Of course some have been around for years and some very recent. The easiest thing to look at are the synapse in the brain as well as the measurement of nerves. and how they read. I think that the next think to think about other then simple things that can be disprovened so quikly is the fact that we as far as some science is consiered that we are a multiy cellar being so with that said there must be something that contecnects all of our cellls together other then dividing them up into organs. I guess what I'm getting at is that 99% of everything soild as that much space in it. Mostly if you think about things on moleculare level and even further down into quarks and such. With all of that hold us together there must be more then just magantism hold us together but also engery like that of a soul or sprit in my mind becuase unlike a rock we create things on this plane.

I am a healer. I have used this energy you describe many times. In the most practical way, it can effect our physical bodies. In the most metaphysical way, it mirrors what seems to be a phenomenon of the entire Universe.

We decompose, it incredibly is basically a chemical technique and for that reason the substitute of potential in form or yet another. in addition there is a few electric powered discharge with the middle and yet another discharge of varieties with the neurons, etc. i do no longer think there is something metaphysical approximately it, nevertheless.

Yes. I'm not sure what I would call it, but there is definitely something very special about being alive that is gone from the body the moment we die.

Is it merely a matter of belief?
Then it becomes a concept to intellectualise and theorise about and therefore little meaning in life.
To answer this question for oneself requires the mind to be quiet and then maybe then you can feel the answer.
