No u need to be fluent in english. You have to know their slang and expressions. And most of all, you have to be able to duplicate their accent. That's what required in a call center.

I'm guessin you've never actually called a "call centre" i.e. help desk before. The odds of getting someone who can speak ANY language is very slim. You'd fit in just fine.

practice makes perfect dude. it's not about being really fluent but its' about being conversant in the English language. And the best to do this i to internalize it, feel like you're a native English speaker..and immerse yourself with everything that is associated with the US or any english-speaking country.
Its about total exposure. :-)

I think they may intentionally choose people that can not speak English well in order to make the answers more ambiguous.

Sometimes they need people who speak other languages to call groups of people, perhaps you can have a career doing that! Good luck!

I believe that most call centers have a course for future employees, that teaches them American... at least well enough they can answer questions and take orders.
