I'll tell ya - because they knew he was dead. The news is a leak - they didn't want to tell you. OBL is worth more to the White House as a "bogey-man" to scare y'all with - they don't want you to know he's dead! Who's Bush gonna scare you with now?

Elections are coming up; just wait and see what else pops up 'just in time' to give Bush his radar blip in popularity. There is a very strong connection on what this administration does as fear tactics and Bush's ratings; every time he is down in the polls and the Republicans are in trouble, something always pops up to instill the fear factor again.....the weak minded and religious extremists bite into it every time.......good conversation! let's see what others come back with, could be interesting!

Dude - maybe Bush and squad can benefit from keeping Benny alive in a mythological condition - still after all those deaths on 9-11, we have a right to know if he's dead.
As for the WMD, Russia helped move all these things into Syria in its convoy that was fired on but never checked out their goods because it was a (ahem) diplomatic convoy. Why? THEY HELPED SUPPLY SADDAM! and could not afford for the U.S. to find the goods and risk us finding their (and China's) trademark on the goods This has been varified by witnesses but the witnesses reports were stifled by the liberal media who wanted Saddam to remain as king of Babylon.

there have been reports in the past of OBL's death... all proved to be wrong. The WH isn't going out on a limb until they have proof... and if they did know back in August and planned to wait until November for the big reveal, the "spin doctors" for the president are going to have a field day with this news leak.
