4800/80=60 60/5=12 PENS AN HOUR
12*7=84 84*25=2100 pen an hour

1)
if(80 machines)
if 4800---> in 5 hours
x ----->in 1hour
cross multiply : 5x=4800 => x=4800/5 => x=960 (for 80 machines)
to get the answer for one machine=> x=960/80 =>
x=12 pens

2) if in 1 hour, 1 machine produces 12 pens, then in 7 hours, 1 machines produces 12*7=84 pens
But we have 25 machines,then 25*84=2100 pens

First, you need to find how many pens 80 machines can produce in 1 hour.

(4800/5)=960

Then you need to solve the first problem. Since you already know that 80 machines can produce 960 pens per hour, divide 960 by 80 to figure out how many can be produced by 1 machine in an hour.

(960/80)=12

To solve the second part of the problem, you need the solution to the first part of the problem. you need to multiply the number of pens (12) by the number of machines (25) to get the number of pens produced by the machines in one hour.

(12*25)=300

Then, multiply that number (300) by the amount of time the machines will be producing pens (7 hours) to receive the answer to the second part of the problem.

(300*7)=2100 pens

Good luck.

No. of pens produced by 80 machines in 5 hrs.=4800
No. of pens produced by 80 machines in 1hr.=4800/5=960
No.of pens produced by 1 machine in 1 hr.=960/80=12
No.of pens produced by 1 machine in 7hrs.=12*7=84
No. of pens produced by 25 machines in7hrs.=84*25=2100
Solution:-
1 machine produces 12 pens in 1hr.
25 machines produce 2100 pens in 7 hrs.

#1. 4800 divided by 5=960 then 960 divided by 80=12 per hour by one machine

#2. 12 x 25 =300 then 300x7=2100 in 7 hours by 25 machines

Hope this helps

Start dividing, hon. What, specifically, do you not understand about these two problems? (I need to know what you don't understand so I can help you understand it.)

I'll get you started.

If you say... pens per hour. That means you take the number of pens divided by the number of hours. 4800 / 5 = number of pens per hour (for 80 machines running).

Now you keep going... Use ADD DETAILS to post your answers, and then we can look at what you do/don't understand.
