About middle of October. But you can now buy koi carp food that allows you to feed them during the winter months. The fish foodis colour coded and it will tell you when to feed and when not to feed them.

Beautiful fish

We've had ours for years and they are really huge. You can really tell when to stop feeding them as they are very disinterested. Generally its when the weather takes a turn and is getting chilly. We are still feeding at the moment but only every couple of days, they don't appear at all hungry. By late autumn stop altogether. We don't start again until mid April and feed them nothing in between. God only knows how they survive all that cold weather with an empty tum, but they do.

You should stop feeding high protein/staple food when water temperatures fall below 70. As the water temperature drops into the sixties you should decrease the frequency to only every other day. It can take your fish two or three days to digest food at this temperature. Below that, don't feed your fish anything at all.
