The most you can lose each week and still maintain healthy nutrition is 2-4 lbs. Anymore and you are not maintaining good nutritional intake.
If she can: exercise at least three times a week, or she can try to walk every day. Also not eating a big meal after 8pm can help.
If she is very concerned she can see a nutritionist or a counselor.

Drink in worry-free words water, no soda, juice, alcohol, etc. Do an excellent variety of cardiovascular workouts, consistently. The Eliptical device and pilates can help out a great deal, even if the most proper is walking, instead of strolling. eating a lot less is continually a strong way, as long as you do it precise. stay remote from snacks thoroughly, no chips, cookies, cake, sweet. as long as your 1200 energy are all portion of your significant food of the day. As humorous as this would sound, eat BREAKFAST! A bowl of cereal, or maybe some fruit interior the morning will make you healthful, and furnish you with the ability you opt to finish your workouts with the help of the day. each and every each and every now and then those parts are more beneficial sturdy than the workouts themselves, yet once you're severe about it, then i visit assure you'll lose 25 pounds in a million month. strong success!

Watch Biggest Loser show. seriously. follow what they say, stay away from treats and exercise. They will lose weight faster because they are killing themselves for fast results, but if the show is watched for motivation... and she can lose ONE pound a day... then she will have lost 30 in a month. I used a personal method of saying, I will not starve if I don't eat between regular meals and I drank tea...often, to fill my stomach and trick it until the next meal. My stomach slowly shrank and it became easier. OH, and now I'm on a forced vegan diet. I have an ulcer and have to follow the purine diet of what NOT to eat until I get better. And if you stick to fruits and simple foods... that also helps to shrink your stomach to normal size. (but it really helps if your stomach/body hurts when you eat too much of the wrong foods.) Give her support and don't buy treats around her. Don't sabatage her. Tell her to weight in now, then don't look at scale again... let her clothes be her judge. (looking at scale too much is not good) If she is girlfriend, then take romantic walks with her... keep her going... it's only ONE lousy pound in day. Ask her to give up 'cheating' for a month and be good to the diet. Tell her any treats she gets, YOU will give her for her efforts.. sounds romantic. Then scale her after a month and if she didn't cheat then (fingers crossed) she will have at least lost the 20. Best of luck.

I would recommend the same thing the others are saying: Get out there and exercise! It is a lovely time of year for a walk. And also, cutting processed foods out of her diet would be good. Eat lots of fresh veggies, and go easy on the pasta and bread. Also, certain ethnic groups tend to weigh more, so if she is Hispanic, for example, then being a size 2 might not be in her cards. And that is okay. You don't have to be skinny to be a great and well-loved person.

If your girldfriend is really that desperate to lose weight, than change her lifestyle. Losing weight is never just a quick fix... you have to stick with something forever. And don't let that be a burden. When you exercise, do something that is fun for her... something you can laugh and smile while doing, instead of counting the minutes until its over.
There are 3,500 calories in a gram of fat, so to lose 1 pound, you would have to burn an excess of 3500 calories.
http://www.calorie-count.com/
Telln your friend to sign up on this site. IT allows you to make a food log for every day. I t adds up your calories fat, carbs, protein, etc, and grades your food choices for the day. You can even plan your meals ahead of time. You can split the foods into breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.
It also charts your weight progress, and even does a count down to your goal weight. After she puts her information it it will even tell her the amount of calories she needs to eat to maintain life everyday. Limit her calories every day to 1500-1800. The difference between the amount of calories she eats and the amount of calories she needs to maintain life (the number the site gives you) is the amount of calories she has "burned". So take the difference and multiply it by 7, and you will figure out how many calories she "burns" a week. The reason I say burn is because she is not actually doing any work to burn any calories. But next of course there's exercise. Have her exercise at least 4 times a week. Start off walking about 3 miles a day. Its not as hard as it seems. Eventually get into a walk run wlak run mode. THen one day maybe 6 months from now she can run. (I'm still in the run walk run walk mode)
http://www.preventdisease.com/healthtools/articles/while_walking.html
This website will help her figure out how much calories she burns while walking. Plus, it would really help if you would exercise with her. There's nothing harder than trying to lose weight by yourself ( I know).
Now you can just add the number of calories she burns while walking to the (calories eaten- calories need to maintain life) equasion and mulitply by seven. This is actually how many calories she burns during the whole week. It should be a negative number.
That's about all I have for now, if you have any questions just im me. Its on my user page.
Good luck to your friend.
(Oh, and make sure she drinks lots of water and/ or very little carb, sugar, and calorie drinks. 7-up makes a new pop that has no calories, carbs, sugar, etc. Its pretty good. I particularly enjoy Fruit 2 O. It also has no calories carbs or sugars.
I use this site and it is really encouraging. It makes everything organized for you.

Yep, eat very little, exercise a lot. Not a very healthy thing to do. You'll feel fatigued. For not being a very large person, 2-3 pounds a week is ideal. That includes eating a healthy 1500 calories with exercise.

You should only lose about 2lb a week, or it is coming off too quick, meaning you are losing muscle as well as fat. A good diet made up of lots of fresh fruit and veg, no junk food or booze, along with an exercise regime will do the trick.

You can lose 20 pounds in a month but not without sacrificing health.
Your girlfriend would do well to consult a nutritionist... and then a counsellor who would be able to help her with her obsessive need to diet. You would also do well to go and see a counsellor because you seem incredibly anxious about this matter.
I don't hand out my email address to strangers.
