when you want to save all your data in case of a crash on your computer. I would go into "start" menu>"all program">"accessories">"system tool">"back-up icon.
Then you it ask you where you want to save it and automatic think you want to put it in floppy disk so it will show up right or way but don't need to worry just change the location to your hard-drive some where and put a name for it later on you be able to take it back out. It take awhile depend on how much data you want to save.
If you have Nero software install on your computer just open it and CD data icon and it would open a window at the top right hand corner have a button with a plus sign in green click that and it will open a second window this one with for ex: My Document folder. Here is where you find the data you save on the hard-drive. When you find it just double-click it and it would automatically add to the Nero.
Then in Nero at bottom right corner there is a button say "Burn or something click it and watch it burn to your CD and put that CD in to your computer check to see if the back-up (data) is in the CD.
Then put it in a save place and delete the back-up data you have save in the hard-drive earlier. That it.

Im not sure what o/s you are using but ...when you get to do the back up or "save to" somewhere there should be either a drop down menu or "browse button " where you can change the path of where you want to it to go
