The last movie I saw was "Lady in the Water." It was a pleasant diversion for a hot summer afternoon, but I don't feel it was one of M. Night Shayamalan's best.

Books? Hmmmm--I'm generally reading anywhere from four to five at any given time--I'm a certified, card-carrying bookaholic (and no, I don't want to find a 12 Step program!). At the moment I'm reading Isabella, a biography by Alison Weir. It concerns the life of Isabella of France, the wife of Edward II of England. I'm also reading Queen of This Realm, a fictional biography of Elizabeth I by Jean Plaidy; Flames Along the Delaware by Jay Richards (a history of the French and INdian War in the upper Delaware Valley), The Unredeemed Captive (an account of a child taken in the 1704 Deerfield raid in Massachusetts who chose to not return to her family) by John Demos, and Stephen Brumwell's White Devil, concerning Richard Rogers' raid on the Abenaki village of St. Francis.

Top ten favorite movies? In no particular order:

Gone With The Wind

The Others

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

The Sixth Sense

Unbreakable

Fantasia (the original)

David Copperfield (the '30's version with Freddie Bartholomew and W.C. Fields)

Cars

Scrooge (a 1953 version starring Alastair Sim)

A Knight's Tale

The Reckoning (if I could ever see it from beginning to end--but hey, Paul Bettany isn't too hard to look at!)

Books? Again, in no special order:

Drums Along the Mohawk (Walter D.. Edmonds)

Gone With The Wind (Margaret Mitchell)

The Awakening Land Trilogy (The Trees, The Fields, and The Town) by Conrad Richter

A Country of Strangers (Conrad Richter)

Light in the Forest (Conrad Richter)

Almost any of the historical novels of Jean Plaidy or Victoria Holt (who were the same person)

Most novels by Norah Lofts
