No, because Davis likes his coaches to be his puppets, and Al Davis is old and out of touch with the modern pro game. Gruden made the team much better, but he got too much media attention so Al got jealous and *traded* Gruden to Tampa Bay, which is a total insult to a coach, to get traded.

No, I am afraid the game has passed Al Davis by. He showed that by going backwards hiring Art Shell has head coach again. Since free agency was introduced the Raider by and large have struggled. Gruden was the ideal man for the job long term. Alas Davis thought he could get away with interfering instead of letting the man he hired to take the Raiders to the promised land. Even with his fading health he still can't let go. It's sad really if you think about it.

I have always been an Al Davis fan, but the rehiring of Art Shell has been the thing that is changing my mind. Actually, I think the Raiders demise started with the "shunning" of Marcus Allen. Except for the Gruden years we ain't had a lot of good times.

Who knows! He has won in the past and they were pretty good in the Gruden days! I think he took a step backwards with Coach Shell. He's done been down that road before. He will probably need to do a total rebuild, then hire a good G.M.that knows football and business matters.

NO. WITH AL DAVIS THERE NO PROVEN COACH WILL GO NEAR THAT TEAM. THAT'S WHY HE HAS TO BRING BACK A COACH LIKE ART SHELL WHO IS NOT CAPABLE OF TURNING A FRANCHISE AROUND. THE GAME HAS PASSED AL DAVIS BY AND HIS OFFENSE
IS STRICTLY OUT OF THE 70'S AND 80'S .

The entire management team should go, Davis should shut up, and I should be hired to run the whole show.
