Can anyone tell the difference between the Tories and New Labour? Have we got the politicians we deserve? Is voting for the Lib Dems a wasted vote? Was there ever any choice in the first place?

Questions, questions....

nope...the tories and new labour are pretty much the same. i really hope i dont deserve the politicians that we have...i thought i have been quite a good person throughout my life. i vote for the green party because i agree with their politics, and that could be a called a wasted vote but i think at the moment votes are not gonna do **** anyway and i would rather vote with my principles. not sure about the choice in the first place. but what i think we need to do is start making a f*cking noise about stuff - when bus prices went up in india...the youth rioted on the street! why dont we do that? the british public are either stupid, lazy or just put up with farrrr to much rubbish. we need to get people ACTIVE!

Once upon a time there was a choice. Now though the only difference between tories and labour are their party colours.
The Lib Dems are not a serious contender due to the fact that they are more "out there" than Labour, just a good vote waster for Labourites.
Gradually the BNP have strengthend themselves at local election level and look stronger each time.
Perhaps people are waking up to the fact that the main parties are now full of empty promises and deceit

We get what we deserve, which is why I refuse to vote (that and the fact they give themselves good pay rises while trying to keep Civil Service rises under inflation).

But too many are ingrained into their Tory or Tory Lite (new Labour) mentalities that nothing will ever change.

Lib Dems will never get enough support to challenge, UKIP are a waste of time, the rest just stand for election as jokes.

Storm Parliament?? I agree we could be done with a whole new government, Labour and the Cons. are too much alike, it would be good to see another party take the vote, brush away the historic cobwebs and bring Britain into the 21st centuary. Voting Lib Dem is not a wasted vote you are still showing your point and the point that you are not happy with present government.

Yes, lots of questions, with no satisfactory answers.
New Labour is just reconstituted Conservative, just without the mare Thatcher!

I 2 wonder what choices we will get, next Election.
With them all being in complete disarray, we can only wonder.
I'm hoping a marvellous independent politician steps up.
1 without the aim of killing the NHS.
Signing us 4 more European Judicial madness, undermining our basic laws in the process.
Bring us back 2 when Freedom of Speech didn't mean abandoning common sense!

Shocking that all we can do is, hope!

It won't happen, but if only independents got voted in, regardless of their personal hobby horse, may be the big parties would realize that they can't buy votes, and I don't think gouvernment could be any worse. Since politicians are beholden to industry/finance
for their campaign money it has been a slippery slope from democracy to oligarchy/plutocracy.

Start voting for alternatives, if no one votes for them they get no power, apathy never won elections or changed things for the better.

Wikipedia lists some of them (link below), have a read up, find one you like then support them. Diversity in politics breaks monopoly power, become part of the solution.

We cannot, unless and until we generally accept that we do not live in a true state of democracy. That which exists is better described as being Democratic Autocracy. A Few able and powerful individuals, selling their notions as what they think is best for us.

Ah philosophy...are you familiar with the concept that there is no true free will?

Read about the Situationists and Guy Debord's 'Soceity of the Spectacle', then things get really interesting...

Why, those self-serving hippos wallowing of their sick-gotten efficient factors with distinct houses and 1000's of Brits homeless! in the experience that they prefer to serve the individuals, enable them employ their houses out at social housing expenditures. wealthy landlords! they are in reality compounding their hypocrisy by making use of speaking such hogwash and humbug. speaking about "appreciate", it must be earned and in no way taken with no interest because it "comes with the place of work". both stated had time to earn it and they failed abysmally. we do not desire to defer to them merely because they are interior the authorities. we've each proper to scrutinise their lives and performance and, in the experience that they are stumbled on desiring, to assert so. If anybody is a threat to democracy, that's those who promise us a referendum and then renege on their word. appreciate, my beard and foot!
