First be sure the stove is off. Second find the yellow pages and look up who can install built in microwaves. I always say, if you can do it hire it done.

I assume you mean a micro/hood. A true built-in goes into a cabinet and the cabinet is not designed to be over a heat source. If you really do mean a built-in, then it cannot be done without protecting the cabinet with a metal shield. Check local building codes for exact requirements and minimum distances.

There are a lot of variables. First, power: Electrical code requires microwaves to be on their own circuits. Second: venting: Are you venting to the outside? If so, what size duct does the manufacturer require? Third, placement: Most manufacturers specify the minimum distance from the cooking surface. That distance can be increased to suit individuals' tastes. For example, get out your tallest cooking pot and place it on a rear burner. You'll want room to get a stirring spoon in.

Read the directions carefully. They will include templates needed for proper installation and other details specific to your unit.

Wow, you got some weird responses.

I put my microwave in and it was simple but you need someone to help you lift and hold it while you use a screw driver.

First - get a helper
Second - be sure that you have enough space between the top of the stove and the bottom of the micro wave.
Third - Mark the center of the micro wave and drill your holes into the wall.
Fourth - Mark and drill holes in the cabinet above the micro wave for the support and to push the power cable thru.
Fifth - Put the back brace on the wall where you drilled the holes, The brace is usually a flat piece of metal used to support the back of the micro wave.
Sixth - While holding the micro wave in place on the back support, screw the support screws in the top of the micro wave thru the bottom of the cabinet.

Wallah, you have installed your micro wave.

all of us i've got seen enables the two mounting techniques and the hardware. i know what you're asking right here. Its real the backs are not appealing, yet i could be bowled over in case you could no longer purchase one complete for this purpose. and you will cover it in one in each of those approaches. i think of you're asking what to grasp it from. How approximately making a shelf? (you will need power there, buts that yet another concern.) cut back a bite of three/4 plywood the size of the opening and a million a million/2" much less the intensity. Mount 4 L-brackets to the different cabinets. the size would be significant. locate out how long mounting bolts are. Say they're going to paintings for a three" top, Subtract the three/4" plywood and you will use 2 a million/4" brackets. Screw the plywood to the brackets so it is predicated in the opening left to precise. you additionally can screw by using the interior cabinets into plywood. Now rip a bite of 1x to width (3" in this occasion) for the back and front. Nail to plywood flush on the final. this could stiffen the shelf and cover the twine that is going to the opening you put in an adjacent cabinet. There you bypass, sensible and handy. you could gown it as much as compliment the cabinets with a small crown molding or routed ingredient.

I agree with Wayne, I put one in my kitchen with no problems, the mounting hardware comes with it, some models do not even need a vent pipe as they have a filter in them that blows back out into the room, took me and my dad an hour to install and we took our time. The main thing you need to do is mount your hanger on wall studs.
