At what age would you ideally like to die and why? I'm not asking people who are suicidal and actively want to die, just those who aren't absessed with living to a ripe old age.

Me? I think I'd like to expire in my mid-sixties. I wouldn't be decrepit, and I would have had time to do most of the things I wanted to accomplish in life.

Well, as I age, I no longer think mid-sixties is old. I volunteer at several assisted living facilities...what we used to call nursing homes. Seeing the NON quality of these peoples' lives, though, makes me question what lies ahead for me. It is scary, really.

As long as I am still able to do stuff I'd want to be alive. And I don't know why someone thinks in their mid fifties or sixties they'd meet their great grand children. Most people in their mid-fifties don't even have grandchildren yet, let alone great grandchildren =/ That's so young, I am certain you will change your mind once you get to your mid-fifties. That's how old my parents are and they are having more fun now than they ever have. They go on cruises every year, they take dance lessons, they are living it up. If you can't see the value in life in your mid-fifties ... then I feel sorry for you ...

(that is to one person who answered, not the OP).

I think I would prefer to expire somewhere between my mid 50's to mid 60's. By that time I would have done most of the things I would have wanted to do, including meeting my great grandchildren, and the things I haven't completed probably couldn't after that anyway. I know I DO NOT want to be some decrepit old person in need of others caring for me, I know I would find that terribly humiliating.

You only become decrepit if you let yourself, or if you get a disease. If you keep to a healthy regieme you can stay active and healthy even 'til your 90s! the other day i saw some 80 year old + beat the crap out of a 20 odd year old when he knocked into him.
Personally i think death only comes to those who either accept it as an inevitability, or those who are murdered.

I used to think I wanted to die before I got too old, but now that I'm up to age 50, I can see that I am seeing things in life that I never saw before. Old age doesn't mean lack of usefulness. I am able to help more people now than I ever have been. Perceived beauty may fade with age, but inner beauty increases significantly.

I would like to live to be about 75. I think I would make a good old person, but don't want to become too old where everything begins to fail, and being physically able to do things becomes a great challenge.

I want to live as long as I can still enjoy living, be it 70 or 170 once I come dependent on someone to crush up my food and feed me or I start wearing diapers, or I'm not be able to recognize my loved ones , that would not be living, and I would hope someone would put me out of the misery

I thought about that once...My grandmother lived to be 69 yrs old. She and I were very close...She had accomplished everything she had wanted to do by then and died happy...I've followed her Life pattern pretty much...My life is good.... I'm very happy..by the time I'm 69, I'll be ready to go...♥

I dunno, Sometimes I feel like I'm not going to live a very long life. Do you think that people can kinda feel how long they're going to live? I just hope I do live past 65, because that means I would have worked 99.9% of my life. I wouldn't have time to enjoy retirement lifestyle.
