With laws such as Megan's Law - (a federal law passed in 1996 that authorizes local law enforcement agencies to notify the public about convicted sex offenders living, working or visiting their communities, have helped expose the pedophile and allows parents to better protect their children) what chance would they have of starting fresh? Or are they doomed to remain the biggest of all social outcasts?

my persoanl opinion is that any one who has served his or her time should be allowed to re enter society....you cannot allow society to punish some one for the same crime twice....but at the same time there should be counselling and well as some measures so that such crime by the same person is not repeated.

I think that a genuine attempt to satisfy all of the regulations without a second thought would be a start. Pedophiles don't have the right to "start fresh", they can only attempt to improve their lives from here on. And yes, they are doomed to be the biggest social outcasts. I believe this without a doubt or a second thought.

I totally agree with Uknownotlove. People make such a huge deal of living near or around a known sex offender but have absolutely no problem living next door to a murderer. They get out too! I don't believe that after they have done their time they should be persecuted any further.

There is no easy answer, that question ,should have been posed
before the act was ,committed. At this point, they can start fresh, in the next, life.

Are their victims allowed to start fresh with their lives?? No, they have to live with what happen to them forever - they can't go back to the begin what should have been a carefree childhood.
Pedophiles need to be watched and the communities they do release them into need to be warned - no question in my mind.
