Not sure what you mean but if it's the name "Birmingham" then it's usually derived from some ancient owner of the land in the early A.D centuries.( Birmingham UK )
Birmingham England is the best city in the f***ing world though baby no-one is even close to the greatness of "Brummies"

Birmingham started life around the Digbeth area (about half a mile from the Bull Ring), fresh water and a river helped this expansion that joined surrounding villages.

The one in Alabama or the one in England? B'ham AL was at one time an important railhub, "The Gateway to the South" while B'ham England is/was an important manufacturing and distribution centre.
