The general public may not be interested in science, but they sure do love it when science solves a problem or helps someone invent something that benefits the general public in some way. Cures for diseases, cell phones, the internet...even electricity are things that the general public takes for granted. If more people appreciated the hard work and products of science, then more of them might actually become more interested in it. That's MY opinion.

I agree. We take so many things for granted that we fail to appreciate them including contributions of science. If a person's life could flash before them like playing a movie but backwards they would notice how many modern advances disappear. Then if they could run the movie forward without the advances in science during their own lifetime they would be amazed. Probably they would die because of the spread of disease (blocked by science) or starve (because less food is produced without science) and their favorite entertainment would be gone too. Of course some people would rather live in a tent or a cave with far less people.
