Computers aren't 'taking it away.' Rather, personal privacy has diminished slightly at the expense of advancements in communications technology.
Computers have always been just a tool. Thanks to computers, communication with everything around us have been enhanced.
However, computers do not rule our lives. You still have the choice to dictate how you use the communications technology.
For example, I NEVER buy anything online, so my credit card number isn't even on my computer, or at some company's web site.
It's also possible that a child can still be successful in school by researching at a public library, instead of going on the Internet and then being distracted by something like games or child molesters. Computers will always be tools, nothing more.

We're trading in our privacy and freedom for the convenience and tasks we can accomplish with computers, one day at a time. We allow it because underneath it all we have the mentality that we'll deal with the consequences later.

2001: A Space Odyssey is the best comment I can think of in popular culture about the 'man is a tool using animal' dilemma. Our tools make us great and inspire our consciousness and abilities but they also destroy us. There was a theme in the Matrix about this too.

For every choice we make in life, we should weigh the benefits against the risks.

We often make those choices without considering the risks, they are always there.

If we think before acting, we often find the risks outweigh the benefits and should act accordingly.

Some of our actions on the Internet may put us at risk.
Interacting with "strangers".
Participating in scams.
Revealing personal information.
Identity theft.
Even connecting with the Internet, without software protection. Viruses, hackers, etc. Even with protection a risk exists.

The benefits are numerous as well.

Consider all the risks of driving an automobile.
We risk the dangers for the benefit. Even risk our life every time we get behind the wheel.
On and on.

A foolish question!
Computers do what we tell em to!
Computers can't be blamed for this!
If we sustain ourselves disclosing our secrets to the computers, there is no chance of such kind of nuisance!

Take care baby!
