I'm really troubled. However much I like to write about real situations and places, only with a few fictional elements, I always succumb to the temptation of involving supernatural elements, more or less. It's my fault, I like the supernatural. But I'd like to be able to get rid of it if I want to! Please help!

Don't be troubled. What you have is an inordinately deep sense of the unknown. This is actually good for writers because it gives you a sense of what is around you and what others' cannot see but is still around you and them as well. If you can figure out where King Solomon's Mines are in a story that reflects the lives of people today, you are one step closer to goddesshood. In my opinion.

If writing about the supernatural comes naturally to you (no pun intended) why must you insist on getting rid of it? Maybe it's what you're meant to write about. I've been working on a novel myself for more than a year, and I finally got it down to the form I wanted it to have. I can tell you this: You won't know your final story until you've written it from beginning to end. If these elements come to you, maybe there's a reason. Maybe that's what you're good at. There's certainly a public for it.
I'd say it's probably a bad idea to start censoring yourself until you're far enough in the process that you clearly know what goes in your story and what doesn't.
Best of luck.

least confusing thank you to do it incredibly is to ascertain horror memories by making use of customary writers for a set formula. it actual relies upon on what you're attempting to write down and what author can effect you the main. some horror memories can grow to be stale and absence that side that could shop a reader turning the website: like the speight of teenager horror movies which contain extra hideous techniques wherein the protagonists are killed off. What may well be an unique theory will become a stereotype. What makes a sturdy horror/supernatural tale is one the place the rigidity is cranked up slowly, with each and all the characters aspects cut loose one yet another, till the final couple of chapters the place each and every thing smartly slots into place. ceremonial dinner for Damned by making use of Adam L.G. Nevill adopts this plot gadget, yet what makes it extra thrilling is that that is written interior the present annoying, giving it a feeling of immediacy. that's a tale it incredibly is incredibly worth a glance. examine the lady in Black by making use of Susan Hill for a classic ghost tale sense. Or the grim yet enticing works of David Moody and his 'Autumn' series.

If you write well about the supernatural, don't stop. But you're problem may be because you need new material. Do your short stories have more in common than just the supernatural?

As much as I love a short story with supernatural elements...

Why do they creep in? What role are they playing in the story? Once you've figured that out, it'll be much easier to figure out a more mundane way to replace them.

Dont know,

By the way tell you jokes, and it goes:

>How I was born<

A little boy goes to his father and asks, "Daddy, will you tell me
how I was born?"
-The father debates answering, but finally says: "Well, I guess one day you will need to know anyway."
"Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. I set up a date via e-mail and we met at a cybercafe.
-We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. "But when I was ready to upload and she was ready to download, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall and it was too late to hit the delete or escape button.
-"So nine months later a blessed little pop-up appeared that read, 'You've Got Male!"

One more joke:

A guy calls his vet and says "What should I do with my cat?Vet says "What do you mean? Guy says "I had a leak in my lawnmowers gas tank and the cat drank the gas. Then the cat began to run around and around the yard, climbed a tree. then fell out of the tree stiff. Vet says "Is the cat dead? Guy replies "nope he ran out of gas.

keep on writing, you can solve that problem in rewrites by examining the supernatural vs the rational alternative, then decide which you really would like to have.
