Is it about 30 minutes on each side? A day.

I think 3 hours would be too long.

No amount of time. Have you not heard that 'sun tanning' is bad for your skin and your health. But if you want to prematurly age, have leathery skin, sun spots and die from sun cancer, be my guest. Do 30 minutes.. but you will regret it. Use a self tanner.

There is no "safe" time to tan. But yes, it looks good so go for a high factor sunscreen, spf 20 or more and don't sit in the sun between 11 and 3.

If you mean truly safe, then zero minutes.
If you want to produce vitamin D 15 minutes a day is plenty.

The more you tan, the higher your risk of skin cancer is, and the faster your skin will look old, wrinkly, and saggy.

It's not safe at all! Enjoy the color of your own skin! Use a very good sun-block (SPF 30 or higher).
