Zuma is a populist - this has its advantages and its disadvantages. He's certainly not a leader in the Mandela groove (this is the standard by which any South African leader gets judged).
He doesn't seem to be able to look after his own finances, he's sexually reckless (SA has a burning need for a strong leader on HIV), has some odd comments (showering, about Zulu culture, about gays).
South Africa deserves better. One of the following would do a good job as presi - Sexwale, Ramaphosa, Manuel or Mboweni.

I think he deserves the chance too especially that he has won the the cases lebelled against him. Besides that Mr. Zuma has actually laboured enough in that party for a long time. He stood by ANC in thin and thick times and so I feel he deserves the chance too. Hes a good man of course as human being noone is perfect, we all make mistakes. Hes a matured politician.

Jacob Zuma, in my opinion, should never be considered for the presidency. His actions has been too controversial. I think that many South Africans feel the same way. He has done a lot for the South African people during the "struggle" to end Apartheid, but that seems minimal now that he has been linked to rape and corruption. Zuma enjoys considerable support in parts of the left wing of the ANC, including many in the ANC Youth League, the South African Communist Party and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU). Which makes it a very tough question to answer whether or not he'll be considered.

from what i've read in the press, this guy Zuma seems to be very dodgy. i just hope that for the sake of the people in that country he doesn't get elected as president. although considering the way tarbo mbeki is running south africa at the moment, i don't like that guy either. he has just lost the plot, what with him denying that the AIDS crisis is escalating to alarming proportions and his government fiddling around with the statistics. i wouldn't like to see him remain in charge that long and so, i just hope he goes or is ousted sooner, rather than in the forseeable future.
i don't care who south africa has- just as long as it is not jacob zuma, tarbo mbeki or any of those racist, pro-apartheid folks

All South Africans (of which I am proudly one) know that Zuma is a money grabbing crook. Why the President hasn't kicked him out I don't know. I guess he has something on him...he did use to be in charge of state security!

I hope he doesn't; he doesn't seem like a honest upright man. I'm English; grew up in SA; love the country and was so excited at the birth of the Rainbow Nation.. very disappointed with Mbeki and the current health minister's ideas about AIDS and the general state of politics... are you heading the Zim way?

Im in Botswana and I dont see any problem with zuma becoming the next president. I strongly believe that people are just trying to damage his reputation as a politician. He is in a tough game(politics) but I bet he will eventually win

Probably not, you silly sod. I've caught glimpses of him on TV, but he doesn't really have that much coverage.
It's like asking should swedish be compulsory in Finnish schools? Sure, it's a big thing here, but maybe it doesn't get that much international attention.
