Changes to the rules affecting working during pregnancy, maternity leave, maternity pay, and return to work, where babies are due on or after 1 April 2007
All employed women will be entitled to Additional Maternity Leave
The payment period for Statutory Maternity Pay and Maternity Allowance will be extended to 39 weeks
The notice a woman must give if she is changing her date of return from maternity leave will be increased from 28 days to 8 weeks
Optional keeping in touch days will be introduced enabling a woman to work for up to 10 days during her maternity leave period
We have clarified that all women have a right to return to work after maternity leave, regardless of the size of their employer.

I can't remember exact details but I'd heard talk of maternity rights changing - the change I remember is that maternity leave is being increased from 6 months to a year. I don't know if it was just government just talking about it or whether the maternity rights are actually changing. If they are actally changing , I don't know when from.

Yes in the UK. Maternity leave will increase to 9 months paid leave, not sure whether Additional Maternity leave will still be 6 months. And you can work for 10 days during ml without losing SMP. Great news!!!
