Abstract It is well known that chemistry is becoming more interdisciplinary with time. As a result, the boundary between chemistry and biology is becoming fuzzy. Already, a large number of people, formally trained in chemistry, are working successfully in the biological and biotech industry. This employment trend is likely to increase in the future. The bio-related industries are expected to grow in the next 10 years, with new discoveries, new techniques, and new commercial enterprises. These are actually excellent career targets for people who are creative and entrepreneurial. The marketplace is very dynamic, with numerous small and large companies that evolve rapidly over time. Included in this talk are my thoughts on the future trends, the symbiotic relationship between chemistry and biology, and the ways for chemistry to succeed as an enterprise in the future.
