i have a suzuki katana 600. it must've had a leak, because i usually check for oil. now it makes this ripping, snarly sound between 4000-6000 rpm, and it has a drastic loss of power. what to do?

you are up the creek without a paddle. If you run a car without oil, your motor is shot. A bike would be the same so you are out of luck. Tell people that it was Elvis's and you will get enough money to buy three new bikes.

I would check your cpression .if it has a rod knock i would just look for a used motor . if the katana is from 1989-94 you can fit a gsxr 750 motor just so you know.

Yeah you probably just shot that engine, if you have it looked at now the repair may come in less than the bike is worth (maybe).

If you're being cheap, I would ride it till the engine blows completely, and then put a used motor in it.

It could be repaired, but the cost of the job would be almost the cost of replacement. Sorry about that.
