There are millions of "Indian" Asians in the UK - probably more than there are blacks - yet I honestly can't recall a single one who - EVER - played for a professional football club in this country...!
There are hundreds of great black players - so it can't be down to colour prejudice...
I think it's because "Indian" Asians are largely snobbish... They like to pick and choose (or their parents do...!) what they believe to be the most socially prestigious or secure money-making jobs and are conditioned from birth to steer well clear of any other career choices.

ok, so UK Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis may not be in any well known team but I will say I always see Asians in England shirts supporting this country. To say Indians are largely snobbish is quite a sweeping statement, but maybe culture does come into it somewhere. Cricket does seem to be their sport, just as football is ours. If you go to India or any other Asian country you will see someone playing football and alot of them will be a fan of footballers in any team over here, which is always nice to see

I believe it's down to culture: like in most parts of Asia (including China, Japan, South Korea, etc.) education comes first for most parents. Those cultural traits become even stronger when Asian people in general (not only people coming from the sub-Indian continent) emigrate to another country - the parents then feel an even stronger need for their kids to do well in school and go to university and eventually get a "proper" job, i.e. in an office, as a doctor, as a lawyer, as a banker, etc.
Because of the family values and ties in Asian cultures, the parents usually get their way into "forcing" their kids to study instead of "wasting their time on the sports field".
So even if some Asian kids play football at school, they wouldn't see it as a goal to achieve to become a professional football player

im only 20 so i havent seen some of the all time greats.. but 2 players that come to mind are reggie bush and larry fitzgerald..you can say what you want about bush so far in the nfl, but he is one of the most dynamic college players ever.. he could literally score anytime he touched the ball.. he had some downright ridiculous runs at usc.. fitzgerald was on a very average pitt team and caught everything in sight.. best college receiver i have seen.. he constantly got double and triple teamed but still had over 1600 yards receiving and 22 tds.. those are crazy numbers for a college receiver..

dont know but i think that they should take part and become well known indians or whateva.
we need more indian/bengali role models because most indians shy away from fame unlike evryone else and stick to being traditional whatevas.

Football is all about money, if any asian players are good enough and can help a team they play. If they are not good enough they dont play, simple as that. ( same for everybody ).

No no! It is because cricket already takes too much of their lives, even if they only participate from the couch.
