When you open an aloe vera plant.. one of the leafs do you put the transparent "meaty" part with the gel coming off of it slowly into a blender? is it still sticky afterwards? And how long can you keep it in the fridge? someone help me!

I would imagine it would remain somewhat sticky. It shoud be kept in an airtight container and when it's loses it's fresh colour and doesn't "feel" right, then discard it. Yes, you do use the inner fleshy piece. I use a small piece at a time, I have never thought to blend it. I just break it open and slap it on the affected area. No need to use the whole leaf either just the end tip will do.

I've never tried to use it in the blender; if you need to use it on a cut or minor burn, you can use it directly from the leaf without any preparation at all. The leaf is nature's container; if the plant is healthy, you will have a steady supply of the sap/gel for your use.

I've got an aloe vera plant, but it is so cute that I can't bear to break bits off it. I got it about 3 years ago, and its grown really big. My Gran had one that got to over a foot high - that was quite a sight!
