I was wondering if anyone owns a springfield 1911 G I in 45 ACP ? and what is your opinion of it I was looking at buying one.

Very good gun. just have fun with it. as long as you clean it when you're done, you'll be set!

These are based on the original Colt 1911. Very good guns. The Springfield is great if you can get it at a good price. Now, Norinco makes a 1911, it a China gun. Cheap too. But, get this; they disassembled a Colt and a Norinco and put ALL the parts in a bag. They were able to assemble both guns from the parts. I not sure the Springfield will do this, but, I not think it really matter either. Just some Trivia.
I did want to add. The .45 ACP is a slow bullet, about 800 fps. So, it has knock down power. Many think a 9 mm is something, it depends on what for. IF, I had to go against a Bear, I would want the .45 ACP. The 9 mm just go through the Bear and then he be mad!
