It will never happen in the US. You know the trend is the other way. The fundies and ultra cons are successfully promoting the myth that the Founders intended that the US be a Christian nation, that they did not really mean "separation" of church and state, just free exercise of religion for all Christians.

Don't you love Mr. Cricket's answer. He tell you that you don't understand, but offers nothing in reproof of what you are saying. The idea was to allow any/all religions to exist in the public arena, and that no single religion was to be the states official expression. The founders saw the disaster it had been in France with the Catholic Church, in England with The Church of England, with the Dutch with the reformed church, and the Spanish with the Catholic Church, again. They did not want that king of tyranny raising in the US. If a candidate belonged to cone of them, so be it, that was a private issue. It was not a state issue. The state stayed out of the business of religion, and the religions were to stay out of the business of running the state. Seems Falwell, and Robertson have forgotten that.
And the founders were Deist and Masons which were not exactly Christin in the 1700s.

Perhaps you need to gain a better understanding of what the original intent, purpose and rationale was, for the separation of church and state.

It is a good idea in a democratic country that church and state are separate.

The 1st step is competent leadership. We don't have that. Separation of church and state is extremely important though, and some of our faith leaders are really pushing the envelope..
