I have met people who have seemingly cured there own tonsilitus, asthma, ran miles and miles with broken bones and achieved seemingly impossible things due to mind over matter, do you think that with the right mind set we can achieve way more than we currently believe our body can achieve and how far can we go???

In many situations the mind is a very powerful ally when it comes to illness and over coming adversity. I do believe that many do fall prey to illness when they could work their way through, I'm on about the so called depressions, dont get me wrong, I know depression does exist, but I dont beleive it is only able to be treated by drugs alone, counselling and mind control should be the first things to be used as treatment. and also the individual should be able to take control of situations and help prevent it anyway...

The answer is yes, although as with most things there are limits.

The mind is often the body's worst enemy, preventing the necessary dissemination of antibodies or other things. The simplest example I can give is if you have a bad pain somewhere and think about it a lot, the muscles in that area will tense up and prevent the flow of blood to a great degree. Healing chemicals and even pain-dampening endorphins are restricted because they are carried in the blood.

That said, the body's true limits have not yet been discovered. I am grounded in science and true biology, but have practised alternative medicine for years. There are a number of cases of people being told by medical staff that they have run out of options and, after trying an 'alternative' approach, have been even fully cured.

A good example is the placebo, a fake 'medicine' of no true medicinal value but if the person it is given to is convinced enough their own body will provide the effects (remember the human body is a huge chemical factory) often to incredible effect.

Hope this helps.

The mind and its thoughts are very powerful things. Thought is a living thing and whether negative or positive it can change anything. Positive thought can overcome anything and achieve anything. I had a chronic illness, no cure, but with positive thought I have not only controlled it, touch wood, I have not had any symptoms for several months. I pictured this illness leaving my body and I put a time limit on it. Time will tell if I have banished it for good! Also positive thought can attract things into your life, just put positive thoughts out there of what you want to achieve or obtain and you will. So the answer to your question is, yes, we can achieve ANYTHING if we are determined enough and think positively.

I have come across people as you describe, so the answer is 'yes.' But, as for what elements of the Self one harness's to do so....!

Just simply telling someone to 'cure themselves', or someone saying 'I will cure myself.' A lot of bodies have fallen by the wayside in their attempts for it to be a 'that universally easy.'

When i was a child i had a dream that was often repeated (it seemed like 6 - 9 times a night!) when I was unwell, where I was on a heathland, and I found that i could levitate myself.
And I'd call out to others to look at what I ('we' can all) do. Only, when I tried to look in at the part of my head / mind to help describe what I was doing, I began to fall back to earth.

For various reasons, this was deeply upsetting to me, and i woke (to some various degree of consciousness, in a dry 'burning' heat, with a dry mouth, thick tongue and unable to keep my head from the pillow (feeling as if I were wearing a crash helmet made of LEAD) ....or remain awake / conscious.

Sash..

I guess in some cases this kind of miracles happen, but I heard about a case which disagrees with this kind of situation though. A guy was diagnosed "lung cancer' when he neither smokes nor drinks, and he eats only healthy food and exercises on a regular basis. I believe that this guy has determination to stay healthy AND to stay away from illness, but the result isn't so good. I guess some times our determination CAN get us where we want to go, but not all the time.

The human machine is capable of amazing things. Numerous items could be cited. One has only to stop listening to the voices inside. One could ask, why do some surive the Concentration camps while others did not? Some people are able to sum up the will to live or survive.

Yes, at what cost though. You read stories of women who lift cars to rescue their trapped children and their muscles are torn, etc etc.
I walked around with broken bones in my ankles (I was pregnant and didn't want x-rays taken). It was agony but I thought it was only a sprained ankle. I wish I hadn't. Ten years later I've got arthritis and I have a lot of pain. I'm due for an operation in January because of it.

I've been wondering myself recently. If i have an itch I can use willpower not to scratch. So the itch goes away. If I know i'm about to endure pain I just grit my teeth and get through it. I have a really high pain tolerance. I'd like to see more research done into it in the future cause I think it's possible.

Having a positive attitude to life usually helps people to overcome some illnesses, others seem to just lie down and feel sorry for themselves and want pity, fighting back and trying to make the most of life will make them feel a lot stronger

Yes of course .Just look at the lone Pole explorers and how much their bodies have to retune to some higher level to adapt.
As for curing illnesses,it's all a matter of time.
