Hi there! I was just wondering what was the best way to clean my fish tank at home. I actually have it since 3 months and i have 3 comets, 1 blackmoor, 2 grey fish which i dunno the name, and 1 catfish. The only problem with the fish tank is that it gets dirty very quickly, and each time, i have to clean the power filter!!! I give them small pellets to eat. Please advice...

Here are the steps:
1. Take your fish out. You can put them in a plastic bag with water while they wait.
2. If they have any toys take those out and put them on countertop or table.
3. Then get a wet sponge and scrub all around. Pour out any excess water from before.
4. When cleaning out the tank, make sure there is no soapy residue.
5. Put fresh, clean water back in and put your fish back in the tank.

Buy a gravel washer/siphon from wal mart (much cheaper there) and use that to change 25% of the water every week. It will remove a lot of the fish waste. When you clean the filter, you need only to rinse it out for a few times. Only replace the media when rinsing out is no longer effective. It contains a lot of beneficial bacteria that eat the fish poop. Cut your feeding down to half. Your fish should always be hungry, it reduces the pollutants in the water, giving them a chance to live longer.

What i normally only do is i change about 25 % of the water a week hence clean the tank!! I bought a phyton and they do work they are excellent. The python allows you to take water out and put water in the tank without having to carry a bucket. Also i only clean my filters once a month and chage the media inside that seems to work for me. Hope that helps!!

well...first not to much food...no matter what you se them eat...a lot falls to the bottom. Second,,get this cleaning thing...that is two pieces...it magnifies so one part is in the tank..the other ouside..it's for xleaning the glass...Then get a extended hose that hooks up to the kicten or closes sink and attach....it will clean the roscks on the bottom and then you reverse it to add water...i clean the filter every 2 months...to much cleaning breaks the bacterial system going on...but all in all just not to much food....try to but food that says on the package...cloud control..sometimes the food itself can dirty he water....
