It looks as though it might be Polygonacea (family - Sorrell and Buckwheat are the same family). It might help to know where in the world you are.

The leaves are pretty and very distinctive. I see that it's among what look like violets, so would that be a dampish, shady area?

The botanical name of this plant is Persicaria capiata, also known as polygonum capitatum. The picture in my garden ref. book is identical.

I'm stumped on this one, but perhaps a plant identification key will help. I'm including a web site below; if this one doesn't work (or if it's not appropriate for your part of the world) there are many others online.

It is called Alternanthera - it can be green and gold in colour, or different tones of red. I sell it at my work. Hardy ground cover and the more sun the plant gets, the more vivid the colours.
