get a lawyer and do it fast for you do not know what he is going to do.
and stay away from abusive people now matter in what form they come.
no matter how much you love them the will alway make sure they have the upper hand on you.
i hope your daughter has learned her lesson on this and i hope you do

It's a legal matter so you need to get a solicitor involved and a representative of social services if he has had a violent past, but does he have legal custody of the child? If he does then she may have to take him to court to prove that he is in no fit state to keep the child. She must show that she is capable of looking after the child as the courts are only trying to look after her child's best interests. Good luck.

If your in the UK.His name on the birth cert doesn't mean anything, unless he has got a parental responsibilities order, which is only avalible through the courts and has been awarded custody of the child by a court,he doesn't have a leg to stand on.Tell your girl to go and get her child back. The police will have to help if she claims she did not give him permission to take the child for more than normal access time.If the police are un willing to help, ask to speak with there chief super intendant,as by law they must help.
I have been through through this whole process from the male side of things to get custody of my children.Believe me he cannot just refuse to return the child
best of luck..a concerned father..

you need to get hold of social services and they will help you or go and see a solicitor one that deals in family law if she is a good mother the courts would make him give the child back the courts normally go in the favour of the mother why did you allow her to go to a refuge

You seem to forget it is his child too he has as much right to it as your daughter.
How dare you think that women automatically have a right to the children.
Your body your choice. No longer in your body no longer your choice.!!!!!
And why is she in a refuge and how can you even consider that as a good place for a child or baby. As a parent to your child and a grandmother to your grandchildren ( Why are you not taking them under your wing in their time of need ? )
Women always say that the Man was violent ( And some times they probably are correct ) but it is a common excuse.
Both Parents have equal rights to the children.

the police can't do anything but her solicitor will if she is not seeing one already .She needs to get him to court about who is caring for the children if he refuses to let her see the baby it will all go in her favour as he is being unreasonable ,if she still has the other child she should be letting him see the child too ,i think he is keeping the baby to hurt her were he knows he can .

this misy be quite heartbreaking for as you seem to be gaining no help whatesoever. the most important concern is of course your grandchild, which i tend to consider thinking may be in danger, which really needs to be reported to child welfare, or you can ring the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000, they will give you confidential advice or put you in touch with someone who can help. the only other option is to hire a solicitor, but please try the other two first, they do deal with cases just like yours everyday. your daughter is an extremely brave woman, it isnt easy to leave, i know. good luck!

he will probably get tired of the repsonsibility of taking care of her very soon. Try to watch and get witnesses of him leaving her unattended or whatever else he may do which is endangering a child. This threat is usually self limiting as a guy like that gets very annoyed with childrens demands.

if u are in the uk, it is unlikely he will have got paternal rights since they aren't married. therefore i'm pretty sure he can't legally do that if she wants to take the baby. maybe check out citizens advice for help? good luck to her
