So I rang him back and he said that this person had reserved over £4,000 worth of computer stuff. Was it a prank or fraud? HELP!

First of all, cancel the order and tell them that you suspect identity theft.

Next inform the police.

Next check with your bank & credit card company to see what transactions have been done and see if any that you do not know about have been honoured.

Get replacement credit cards and cancel the current one(s)

Do it immediately.

yes, this is fraud, even if it was a prank!

Good luck

Just tell them it was not you but make sure that your statment is recorded and dated. The best way this by putting it in writting with a copy visiting them and getting a manager to sign and date both copies. If you cant get there do it by phone but record the call and confirm it with a letter sent by recorded delivery. I am not sure if this is a fraud or not but if someone can reserve some giear using you name and phone number then they maybe could buy the stuff using your personal details

if you are really not ordering such item and someone told you that you order the stuff then all you have to do is to verify the address and know the exact persons data to make it sure that this things are really in fraud or what...you yourself know if this are fraud or not if you really is not ordering the computer stuff ...you therefore you yourself alone can answer such question if you are the real Mr Overton not ordering things from certain pc world........

You didn't order it ask to see your signature as proof of the order!!!! You are not obliged to buy anything that you did not personally order. Don't stress out PC World are a huge company they will know that they have no power to make you buy this stuff unless they can prove that you personally ordered it.

this sounds like fraud, identity theft, the bloke is obviously trying to make you pay for the stuff, just be careful and talk to someone in store about the situation, it will help.
