Tonight, I went to a 24 hour diner at around 1 am. A friend just happened to be there, along with his other friends. He's bi and barely found out I'm bi. The entire smoking section of the diner was filled with LGBT. It was surreal. I had no idea there was much of a community here in San Antonio. And everyone knew each other and accepted me immediately. I felt like it was a dream, mostly because it was so late. I stay until about 3:30 AM and headed home. When was the moment where you finally met people just like you for the very first time? When was the first time you were comfortable in being true about your sexuality in a social situation?

The moment I accepted my self as a transsexual was last year after my first support group session. The people there were calling me Sarah instead of Ryan. It felt like they were actually talking to me and not the person I pretended to be. I've been Sarah from that night on.
As for feeling a part of the lesbian community, it would have to be at Rockin' in the Street. It was a concert held the day before the pride parade in Columbus, OH. I was surrounded by lots of other lesbian, bi, and transgender listening to some great bands. I took a moment to take in the scene, and I got this feeling like this is right. This is where I belong.

I was 12 years old, lying on the floor between the stacks in our small-town library reading books the librarian refused to let me check out, when along came a student from the college who glanced down to see what I was reading. [intermission] That was when I learned I was not alone in the world. I have felt euphoric ever since.

Well, I accept your proposal of marriage, even if you are bi. You may consider us married for the purposes of mutual gratification in print. I hope your life goes well and that you will meet someone of either sex that you may share your life with. You are truely a wonderful person, and I love you for your answer.
You may divorce me at any time by saying "I divorce thee" three times.

I'm fifteen, and I haven't felt accepted yet, but I'm hoping I will be one day, with ANYONE, really. I have a couple of sexuality 'issues', and my mother and my shrink know aboutn them, but my shrink is just paid, and my mother, she just doesn't like to talk about my problems, and I'm not allowed to tell anyone I'm friends eith about my situation, so it makes it very hard to get close to anyone.

When I was at work and fighting for gay rights for equal rights from the company I worked for --an airline--I had to go completely public ---and I never looked back... I became, if not more vocal, more sure of what injustice really was.
