I have figured out a no fail thing that works for me every night...I make my breathing slower (like it is when you're sleeping), get myself in a calm, peaceful state of mind (I refuse to think of things I have to do, work, etc.), and with every breath I inhale and exhale I count. I've recently heard that this is actually a widely used method. Sweet dreams!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I also have trouble sleeping at times, there can be times when I can have my eyes closed all night and still I don't sleep. Warm milk with horlicks mixed in is ok. I like lavender oil in a bath or on the pillow slip. A warm bath on its own is great to make you sleepy. Playing a meditative CD when you are in bed trying to sleep is terrific, I play ocean noises and shore noises.

Do something that I really don't like, such as read a text book, intending to learn it all, until it gets me so drowsy that I can do nothing but sleep. I must admit that It is a very quick process.

I work really hard during the day and try to keep my life as stress free as possible, making it easier to lay down and go to sleep when it is time.

yes it's hard sometimes to go to sleep. Just go to sleep at the same time all the time. Exercise and don't smoke cigarrette before going to bed.

me than NyQuil.I don't like prescription sleep
aids because they make me sleep too long
and they just make me tiered all day.

yes it is, you can try to read a book in bed that you are interested in, take a nice warm bath before going to sleep, and also try spinkling some baby powder lavender scented powder on your sheets before going to sleep, i like to lie in bed and read a book before i go to sleep and before I know it I am asleep
