Hi,
I registered a domain name some time ago .
I have been receiving email scams asking for bank details the usual crap (makes me sick).
What i think is that when i registrered the domain name i also gave my home address and email address.
I think theses fraudsters are using this to access my details .

Now My Question is: How do i delete my personal information so these fraudsters cannot access my details anymore? I know am on WHOIS database.

Thanks

Hi there, When you registered your domain did you have the option of keeping your details private or public? Most times you have to pay a few pounds to go private but it is worth it unless you are a buisness. (That depends on where you bought your domain from) So... The answer to your question is NO! I am sorry you cannot remove your details off the WHOIS database unless you cancel your domain and then buy it again from a diffrent place that allows you to keep your details private.

Thanks,
Peter Brown

As Peter Brown answered, you can't. Next best thing is to possibly use your domain provider's privacy service (if any) to mask your domain name's contact details.

Otherwise, put in a "throw-away" email address, PO Box, and some other phone number. Putting in "fake" contact details can result in having your domain name suspended or even deleted without a refund.

most fraudsters do not have the intelligence or know-how on how to access or hack your details. what happens is, lets take lloyds bank for example. you use them and give your details over the secure server ok! i come along i have a mate who works for lloyds. we cant access your details but my mate at lloyds gives me your name, so off i go to an internet registry database costs about 20 sterling for a year. i input your name and up comes your address. i make a fake lloyds bank statement, send that to you and demand a payment for being overdrawn which for convieniance can be paid to xyz account on the internet. you are not being hacked neither is your account. its the scumbags on the inside giving out your details to other parties who are doing the scamming.

old saying: measure twice cut once. in computer and internet terms give your details once on a secure server, if they ask again its a con

Who ever you registered the domain with may have a service that will provide an email address through them.

other then that create a yahoo mail address and change the domain registery contact to that... it has a good spam filter .

I dont have the answer you are looking for im sorry, but be more aware next time and get some proper spyware
