A few centuries ago, it was popular folklore that the eagle not only had the sharpest eyesight of any bird, but was the only bird that could stare straight into the sun. I think this is very interesting because it is no longer an idea that anybody would recognise or even believe, and yet it is only a few lifetimes since EVERYBODY would have "known" that it was true.
This is why the eagle is the traditional symbol associated with St. John the Evangelist. It has to do with the way that his Gospel is different from the other three by St. Matthew, St. Mark and St. Luke.

Here is something for you to write about. (1) Eagles eat human flesh (2) Eagles have been known to rip through a persons skull with there sharp claws and peck out the brain and eat it like a vulture. (3) They also eat worms and things like that but it's uninteresting. (4) They are savage beasts that kill lions, snakes, turtles and tear out hearts, lungs and liver.
